September, 8th is celebrated around the world, the International Day for Literacy, promoted by UNESCO. The aim of the Day is to raise the international community’s attention on the need to consider literacy as a human right place at the foundation of lifelong learning.
Literacy is at the heart of the paradigm “Education for All” (EFA) essential for eradicating poverty, reducing child mortality, achieving gender equality and ensuring sustainable development.
In Haiti 1 out of 2 have no access to education, so the basis of the systemic approach adopted by ABF with the program Break the Barriers is precisely the support of education as real empowerment of the individual. ABF has inaugurated in Haiti 3 new schools that provide education, food and medical assistance to more than 1,600 children and young people as Carignole.
