On December 1, GivingTuesday, the Global Day of Giving, is celebrated worldwide. It is a global event created to promote the values of solidarity and generosity.
It is an opportunity to raise public awareness of the importance of participation, reminding us how an individual choice can help create shared opportunities.
Every year, this day brings together people, organizations and communities around the world, inviting them to provide tangible support to causes and projects that make a social impact.
Andrea Bocelli Foundation recognizes GivingTuesday as an important opportunity to foster a culture of generosity capable of translating into tangible opportunities for people and communities, giving strength to its mission: “Empowering people and communities”.
In this article, in addition to exploring the meaning of GivingTuesday, we will look at how you can become an active part of this global movement by supporting ABF projects.
What is GivingTuesday?
Literally the “Tuesday of Giving”, GivingTuesday takes place every year on the first Tuesday of December. With the participation of more than 100 countries around the world, it is the largest global event dedicated to generosity and solidarity.
Launched in New York in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y cultural center and the United Nations Foundation as a response to the consumerism associated with Black Friday, GivingTuesday quickly became a global movement that inspires and multiplies acts of solidarity.
“Giving Tuesday” is a source of inspiration to give in all its forms: from supporting a charitable project through a donation to making your time available to others.
How to participate in GivingTuesday with ABF
Participating in GivingTuesday with Andrea Bocelli Foundation means choosing to turn your generosity into tangible support for individuals and communities living in vulnerable contexts in Italy and around the world.
A donation to ABF can make an active contribution to creating new stories of empowerment by supporting access to education, clean water and essential healthcare, while enabling many children and young people to discover and nurture their talents.
There are several ways to make a donation to ABF:
- One-time contribution
- Regular donation, on a monthly, six-monthly or annual basis, to support the Foundation’s activities and help ensure their continuity over time
- Donations linked to specific events, such as birthdays or anniversaries, by choosing to gift an ABF project
Donations can be made online, by bank transfer, check, credit or debit card, or Bancomat, allowing everyone to choose the method that best suits their circumstances and the type of support they wish to provide.
Projects you can support
On GivingTuesday, your contribution can become a tangible opportunity for the people and communities reached by Andrea Bocelli Foundation. In addition to supporting the Foundation’s overall mission, you can choose to support one of our specific programs or projects — whichever feels closest to your values and personal sensitivity.
- ABF Water Truck. With a donation, you can help provide daily access to clean water in Cité Soleil, Haiti, where two ABF water trucks reach local communities, ensuring access to an essential resource for life, improving hygiene and sanitation conditions, and helping prevent disease.
- ABF African SOUP School Campus. With your support, you can contribute to the development of the new campus in Nabikabala, Uganda, created to expand access to quality education in an area where school infrastructure and healthcare services are still limited.
- ABF Voices Of. Supporting ABF Voices Of means helping ensure continuity for the educational journeys of children and young people involved in regional choirs within the program. Through music and the activities accompanying choral practice, ABF promotes the development of talents and skills, stimulates creativity and collaboration, and creates opportunities for personal and collective growth.
- ABF schools in Haiti. With your donation, you can support access to education for students attending ABF’s six schools in Haiti, helping ensure continuity in educational pathways that serve as a point of reference for children, families and communities.
