After eight months of hard work, made more difficult due the weather and the lay of the land conditions, the new St. Philomene School in Kenscoff, Haiti, is now open to 400 children of the community. Starting from the very first stone in June 2014 the work in progress has been a continuos challenge for every one at the Andrea Bocelli Foundation and Fondation St. Luc, but with the strength and the tenacity of a great team the construction project has been successfully completed. The St. Philomene School is structured on three floors with kindergarden and primary school classes. The spaces are full furnished with blackboards, desks, and also with electrical system, library room, computer lab and kitchen service. The teachers has been included in a training program to comply with national and international standards. The building construction has involved the whole community offering to the student’s parents a job and a real engagement in the future of their children. An impact that became suddenly positive not only in the education side but especially for the sense of the community that has played a key role.
