Tomorrow at 3.30 pm in Muccia (province of Macerata) many famous faces, friends of ABF, together with Maestro Bocelli will be attending the inauguration ceremony – which is open to the public – of the new “E. De Amicis” pre-school and elementary school built in just 150 days.
Tomorrow (Wednesday 26) from 3.30 pm, ABF’s founder will personally inaugurate the “E. De Amicis” pre-school and elementary school in Muccia, one of the towns in the Marche region most affected by the 2016 earthquake.
The ceremony, which will be open to the public, will be held in the square in front of the building, next to the red zone in the old town center, which is still not fit for living.
Together with Andrea Bocelli, there will be many friends of the foundation that bears his name, including the ABF ambassadress Catrinel Marlon, Andrea Griminelli, Carlo Bernini and Ilaria Della Bidia.
Both local and national institutions will be widely represented at the event – which has been granted the patronage of the Italian Chamber of Deputies – from the Commissioner for the Reconstruction Paolo Farabollini, the President of the Marche Region Luca Ceriscioli, the Archbishop of Camerino Monsignor Francesco Massara and the Mayor of Muccia Mario Baroni taking part, as well as many of his peers from the area affected by the seismic crater. The President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella will also express his congratulations concerning the philanthropic initiative through a message.
Just as in nearby Sarnano, where last year ABF was the protagonist of a twin philanthropic project, in Muccia the schedule announced at the beginning of the works was respected: 150 days to build the new school complex that will welcome the students of the pre-school and elementary school.
Just before the cutting of the ribbon, a musical performance is planned with the famous tenor who will be singing accompanied by a group of young wind instrumentalists, a delegation of the students from the music-centered school in Camerino.
The accomplishment of this additional philanthropic challenge by the Andrea Bocelli Foundation was also made possible thanks to the precious and generous support of partners, such Fondazione Mediolanum, Generali, Chopard, Fondazione Marche, Poligrafici Editoriali, the PSC Group Order and Sons of Italy, as well as many others. Furthermore, the “Con Te” SMS solidarity campaign that was launched last September from the Verona Arena stage was instrumental in supporting the project.
The school, designed by civil engineer Paolo Bianchi, includes a total surface area of almost 1000 square meters and the facility will feature large spaces, designed to become shared areas, to be used for informal lessons, reading or simply socializing. With the help of a team of experts, ABF has focused on the creation of a place that is integrated with the community, with traditional local characteristics, that can fulfill even the wishes of young students: from the area for cultivating aromatic herbs to the aquarium, to a canteen in the center of an ideal “agora” where there is also a piano, symbolizing the distinctly music-centered curricula of the school.
The new “De Amicis” school complex is built with “Platform Frame” technology using wooden frames which guarantees the highest grade of resistance to earthquake shocks and certifies the building as a Class IV facility, i.e. the rating applied to “important public or strategic buildings with regard to civil protection management during natural disasters”.
Right where the educational complex compromised by the earthquake stood, a new, functional, safe and eco-sustainable school, around which the entire community can finally start again, is today about to see the light thanks to the Andrea Bocelli Foundation.
