The Haitian fer forgés (wrought iron pieces) are made by skilled local artisans, in keeping with the traditional local culture of recycling. The raw materials used are actually iron oil barrels, which are heated and then opened, so that the iron can be hammered and worked with hammers, chisels and nails. Lastly, the piece is polished, decorated and painted.
